Zhi Zheng 支正 (SI 7)

TRANSLATION: Branch from the Main; Branch of the Upright
TYPE: Luo-connecting
LOCATION: On the line joining SI 5 and SI 8, 5 cun above SI 5, in the groove between the anterior border of the ulna and the muscle belly of flexor carpi ulnaris
NEEDLE INSERTION: 90° insertion
NEEDLE DEPTH: 0.5-1.0 cun

Xiao Hai 小海 (SI 8)

TRANSLATION: Small Sea
TYPE: He-sea, Earth, Sedation
LOCATION: When elbow is flexed, in the depression between the tip of the olecranon process of the ulna and the tip of the medial epicondyle of the humerus
NEEDLE INSERTION: a) 45° distal or proximal instertion, b) 90° insertion
NEEDLE DEPTH: a) 0.5-1.0 cun, b) 0.3-0.5 cun

Jian Zhen 肩貞 (SI 9)

TRANSLATION: Shoulder Integrity; True Shoulder
TYPE:  
LOCATION: On the posterior aspect of the shoulder, 1 cun superior to the posterior axillary crease ahen the arm hangs in the abducted position
NEEDLE INSERTION: 90° insertion
NEEDLE DEPTH: 1.0-1.5 cun

Nao Shu 臑俞 (SI 10)

TRANSLATION: Scapula's Hollow; Upper Arm Hallow; Upper Arm Transporter
TYPE: Meeting point of the Small Intestine meridian with the Urinary Bladder meridian, and the Yang Qiao and Yang Wei vessels
LOCATION: On the posterior aspect of the shoulder, in the depression inferior to the scapular spine, directly superior to the posterior axillary crease when the arm hangs in the abducted position
NEEDLE INSERTION: 90° insertion
NEEDLE DEPTH: 1.0-1.5 cun

Tian Zong 天宗 (SI 11)

TRANSLATION: Heaven's Worship; Heavenly Gathering

LOCATION: On the scapula, in a tender depression one third of the distance from the midpoint of the inferior border of the scapular spine to the inferior angle of the scapula
NEEDLE INSERTION: 90° or 45° insertion

Bing Feng 秉風 (SI 12)

TRANSLATION: Grasping Wind
TYPE: Meeting point of the Small Intestine meridian with the Large Intestine, Gall Bladder, and San Jiao meridians
LOCATION: In the center of the suprascapular fossa, directly above SI 11, in a depression formed when the arm is lifted
NEEDLE INSERTION: 45° medial insertion towards spine
NEEDLE DEPTH: 0.5-1.0 cun
