Jian Wai Shu 肩外俞 (SI 14)

TRANSLATION: Outer Shoulder Hollow; Outer houlder Transporter

LOCATION: 3 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra (GV 13)
NEEDLE INSERTION: 45° medial insertion
NEEDLE DEPTH: 0.5-1.0 cun

Jian Zhong Shu 肩中俞 (SI 15)

TRANSLATION: Middle Shoulder Hollow; Middle Shoulder Transporter

LOCATION: On the lateral aspect of the neck, on the posterior border of the sternocleidomastoideus, level with the laryngeal prominence and posterosuperior to L I 18

Tian Rong 天容 (SI 17)

LOCATION: In the depression between the angle of the mandible and the anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle
NEEDLE INSERTION: Toward the root of the tongue, anterior to the carotid vessels

Quan Liao 顴髎 (SI 18)

TRANSLATION: Cheekbone Opening
TYPE: Meeting point of the Small Intestine meridian with the San Jiao meridian
LOCATION: Directly below the outer canthus, in the depression at the lower border of zygomatic bone
NEEDLE INSERTION: a) 5° insertion, b) 90° insertion
NEEDLE DEPTH: a) joining ST 4, ST7, LI 20 or ST6, etc, b) 0.5-0.7 cun
